Visualizing extracellular neurotransmitter dynamics
In this recorded lecture, Prof. Dr. Christian Henneberger (University of Bonn) will talk about visualizing extracellular neuotransmitter dynamics . His research group focuses on the interactions of neurons and an abundant subtype of glia (astrocytes), in the hippocampus. These interactions determine hippocampal network function and dysfunction in disease. The methods by which his group studies the hippocampus are various flavors of electrophysiology, as well as two-photon excitation fluorescence microscopy, and performs analysis using custom written software (e.g. in Matlab) and numerical simulations (e.g. NEURON).
