About this course
This course covers:
- Pluripotent and neural stem cell culture
- Genetic modification of stem cells
- In vitro differentiation into neurons and glia
- Direct conversion into neurons and glia
- Differentiation analysis (RT-PCR, immunofluorescence)
- Neural transplantation
Learning outcomes
Knowledge on neural and pluripotent stem cell biology, hands-on experience in genetic modification and controlled differentiation of stem cells and their use for cell replacement strategies in the central nervous system. In this course the students learn to plan and design experiments to solve developmental neurobiological issues (Bloom taxonomy: synthesis).
