How do we make decisions – and why do we sometimes fail?
The University of Bonn and Radboud University are pleased to invite applications for the Joint Autumn School on Decision-Making, organised within the NeurotechEU alliance.
This one-week, in-person programme brings together students and researchers from across the NeurotechEU alliance to explore how decisions are shaped – from cognitive models and neural mechanisms to clinical conditions and ethical challenges.
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from:
- Master’s students
- PhD students
- Postdoctoral researchers
Applicants should be affiliated with a NeurotechEU partner university (i.e., they need to be enrolled at or employed by a NeurotechEU university). Additionally, applicants should have a background in fields such as psychology, neuroscience, computer science, economics, medicine, biomedical engineering, or related disciplines.
You can find more information in the checklist.
The nomination deadline for all partners is June 15, 2026.

Throughout the week, participants will engage with leading researchers and explore key questions such as:
- How can decisions be modelled and formally described?
- How do neural systems shape choice behaviour?
- How is decision-making altered in clinical conditions?
- What ethical challenges arise in decision-making?
The programme combines state-of-the-art research insights with interactive elements, providing space for discussion, exchange, and interdisciplinary learning.
