About this course

We are pleased to invite you to the interdisciplinary NeurotechEU Summer School "Neural Networks, Manipulation, and Ethics" at the University of Bonn, taking place 8-12 September 2025. 

The program will explore the ethical, neuroscientific, and philosophical aspects of AI's impact on human autonomy, decision-making, and manipulation.

Key Topics:

  • The distinction between manipulation, persuasion, and coercion
  • Neural mechanisms of manipulation in both humans and AI
  • Ethical implications of AI-human interaction
  • Regulation and ethical AI implementation in various sectors

Format:
Participants will engage in keynote lectures, workshops, and an ideathon in collaboration with leading German companies in AI and neuroscience. Additionally, cultural events will offer insights into Bonn’s rich history.

Who can apply?
Masters and PhD students of the NeurotechEU alliance. Each university can send up to four participants. Students apply for participation at their home universities. The universities will then forward the names of the selected students to the University of Bonn.
